Cleopatra G. Tucker was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, attended Miles College and later relocated to Newark, New Jersey in 1966, where she met her late husband the Honorable Donald K. Tucker Councilman at Large/Assemblyman. She then retired from the Newark Housing Authority in 2002 and later became the executive director of The Centre Inc. which was recently renamed The Donald K. Tucker complex.
Committed to continuing the legacy of her late husband The Hon. Donald K. Tucker and being an advocate for the citizens of her community, Ms Tucker ran for the New Jersey State Assembly and was elected in 2007. Currently serving as Assemblywoman of the 28th Legislative District Ms Tucker has been working diligently to ensure a fair and equal education for Abbott and non-Abbott school district. She also has been a strong Advocate for Early Childhood Development, Senior Services and Children with Disabilities.
She serves as the Vice Chair of Military and Veteran Affairs, Human Service Committee, Commissioner of the Martin Luther King Commission and the Amistad Commission, American Legion Auxiliary, Guyton Callahan American Legion Post #152, and The South Ward District Leader. She is currently an active member of the NAACP, First Baptist Church of Nutley, and The Girl Scouts of America.
Cleo is a proud mother of Donna Wyn and Kiburi D. Tucker and seven Grand Children.
